Jonny Fleck
Jonny joined the Glenabbey staff team in June 2022, although his connection with the church goes back much further. After first attending in 2003 and spending several years living in England, he returned to Glenabbey in 2012 and became increasingly involved in church life and serving. What began with volunteering on the lighting team eventually grew into his current role, where he leads Production, looks after IT, works alongside Andrew Harris on Communications, and lends his technical eye to some of the church's wider facilities planning. Jonny has always been both creative and technical, with a tendency to get rather absorbed in the detail of a problem and work out how things could be done better. Whether he's producing a video, improving a system or automating a repetitive task, he's happiest when he can turn an idea into something that actually works.
Jonny has discovered that production ministry is as much about people as technology, and particularly values serving alongside and getting to know the volunteers who make things happen each week. For him, good production isn't about putting on a show; it's about quietly serving the church, removing distractions and helping people focus on worship and God's Word. He loves the church and its people, and ultimately wants the work he does behind the scenes to point people to Christ and help equip the church for its mission. Jonny and Sara have been married since 2019 and live in Burnside, where they are members of Meadow View home group. Away from work, they enjoy good coffee, good food, forest walks and escaping somewhere with beautiful scenery. Jonny's idea of switching off is somewhat less conventional: some people relax with a good book; he has been known to relax by investigating VAT relief on the church's electricity bill.
