How to Setup a Standing Order

1. Choose which Account(s) you want to contribute to:

At Glenabbey, we have three accounts you can contribute to:

  • General – used for the day-to-day running of our church (preferred).

  • Building Together – used for our facilities and buildings projects.

  • Barnabas – used to help those most in need within our church family and local community.

You can choose to donate to one, two, or all three accounts. Please note that a separate standing order is needed for each account you wish to contribute to.

2. Access Your Bank Account

Log in to your online banking account through your bank’s website or mobile app.

3. Locate the Standing Order Option

In online banking, navigate to the section for payments, transfers, or standing orders. This may be labelled differently depending on the bank.

4. Enter Glenabbey Bank Details

Enter the details for the specific Glenabbey Account you want to contribute to (General, Building Together or Barnabas). Bank details for each account are located on the Give page of our website.

5. Set the Reference

Example, “John Smith Donation”

6. Set the Amount and Frequency

Input the donation amount and choose the frequency of the payment (e.g., monthly).

7. Set the Start Date for the Standing Order

Your bank will give you the option to designate the first date of your standing order.

8. Review and Confirm

Double-check all the details, especially the church’s account information and donation amount. Confirm the setup of the standing order.

9. Monitor the Standing Order

Keep an eye on your account to ensure that the standing order is set up correctly and payments are made on the expected date.

Once completed, the donation will automatically be transferred according to your specified schedule.

10. Fill out a Gift Aid Declaration Form

If you are a UK tax payer, Glenabbey can claim 25p from every £1 you donate - this is called Gift Aid. In order for us to collect this extra 25% from the government we need you to complete a short Gift Aid Decaration Form.

If you have yet to fill out one of these forms, make sure to do that as soon as possible.

There is a paper copy included in our Giving Packs, and you can also fill one out simply and quickly online by clicking here.
